On June 14, 1952, Warren Spahn of the Braves tried to win a game against the Cubs singlehandedly.  For 15 innings, Spahn did all of the pitching and most of the hitting as his teammates languished in the throes of a batting slump. He threw 191 pitches in 15 innings, giving up only 10 hits and 3 runs, struck out 18 batters, and hit a home run.
