The First Night Game
Date of Event: May 24, 1935
Baseball executive and promoter, Larry MacPhail, planned for night baseball at Crosley Field. An Unanimous support was required for MacPhail to get his lights, and his argument for the lights was perhaps the best pitch in the history of the game, as an agreement was reached in which the Reds would play one game with each team in their league at night. On May 24, 1935, at Crosley Field, the first name night game in baseball was played.
