Stan Musial was a Cardinal through and through. After he made his 2999th hit at Wrigley field, he told coach Terry Moore, he hoped to walk four times the next day and get number 3000 in St. Louis. Manager, Fred Hutchinson, heard about it and told Musial he would not use him the next day unless he needed a pinch hitter. But, Hutchinson couldn’t resist and called Stan the Man to the plate. So, on May 13, 1958, Stan Musial hit his 3000th hit at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
