Nolan Ryan Near No Hitter

Podcast Highlights

Date of Event: August 29, 1973

In August 1973, Nolan Ryan pitched the first two no hitters of his career and could have pitched yet another. In a game against the Yankees on August 29, he gave up one hit to Thurman Munson, who hit a pop up that was called by both Rudy Meoli and Rudy Alomar. The confusion led both players to back off the catch. The ball dropped, and it was called a single—more of a team error than a base hit if you ask Nolan.
