First Sunday Night Game
Date of Event: June 9, 1963
After a little over a year of playing games on Sunday afternoon, the Houston Colt .45s asked the National League for permission to play on Sunday night. Permission was granted, and on June 9, 1963, the first Sunday night game in Major League history was played. The night game was a mixed blessing at Colt Stadium. Though with the temperature at 79 degrees was considerably cooler than the afternoon high, there were mosquitoes everywhere.
